5-Hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid-D2 (5-HIAA-D2) is a labeled analogue of 5-Hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid, which is an impurity of Chlorpheniramine, a histamine H1 receptor antagonist. The deuterated form of 5-HIAA is often used as an internal standard in mass spectrometry and other analytical methods to quantify the amount of 5-HIAA or serotonin in biological samples. It can also be employed to investigate the metabolism of serotonin and related compounds.
