QUICK LINKS

5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride (5-HTP) is a naturally occurring amino acid that is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. 5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride increases serotonin and dopamine levels by inhibiting the breakdown of these neurotransmitters. This causes a variety of effects. Research has shown that 5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride has potential to reduce appetite, body weight, chronic pain, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, as well as improve sleep quality. 5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride has also been used in the preparation of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical and hydroxyl radical.
