Its utilization ranges from being a reagent in the synthesis of flavonoid compounds, to playing a role in the creation of insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. Although the mechanism of action of 5-chloro-2-methoxyphenol is not fully comprehended, it is believed to function as an aromatase inhibitor. Meaning, it inhibits the conversion of androgens to estrogens by binding to aromatase and impeding the enzymatic process.
