QUICK LINKS

Lipopolysaccharides from Escherichia coli 055:B5, ion-exchange purified, is a characteristic component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and its lipid A moiety stimulate cells of the innate immune system via the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are localized in the outer layer of the membrane and are, in noncapsulated strains, exposed on the cell surface. They contribute to the integrity of the outer membrane, and protect the cell against the action of bile salts and lipophilic antibiotics. Lipopolysaccharides (LPS), also known as endotoxins, are complex molecules found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli). LPS is composed of three main components: lipid A, core oligosaccharide, and O-antigen polysaccharide.
