5-Bromo-2-aminopyrimidine was employed in a variety of different synthesis projects. For instance, it was used in synthesis of pyridine, pyrimidine and pyridinone C-nucleoside phosphoramidites. Also, it was used in synthesis of 2-phthalimido-5-bromopyrimidine as well as an intermediate for the preparation of sulfanilamides and amino acids containing the pyrimidine ring system. The products are potential antiviral agents. The crystal structure of 2-amino-5-bromopyrimidine was also studied.
