5-Azido Uridine, which is also called 5-azido-2′-deoxyuridine, plays a vital role in biochemistry and molecular biology as an essential nucleoside. It is a derivative of uridine, a pyrimidine nucleoside that constitutes a significant component of RNA. 5-Azido Uridinehas been used as a substrate for protein synthesis, a probe for gene expression, and a tool for studying enzyme-substrate interactions. It has also been utilized to examine the effects of post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation on protein function. 5-Azido Uridine is inserted into RNA where it interacts with proteins and other molecules, causing alterations in the structure and function of RNA that lead to changes in gene expression and protein synthesis.
