5-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione, known as FPCD, is a cyclic ketone compound with a wide range of applications in various scientific fields. It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of compounds such as 4-fluorobenzaldehyde, 4-fluorobenzyl alcohol, and 4-fluorobenzoic acid. It is also used as a starting material for the synthesis of a variety of organofluorine compounds, such as 4-fluorobenzonitrile and 4-fluorobenzamide, as well as heterocyclic compounds, such as 2-fluoropyridine and 4-fluoropyridine. 5-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione may act to inhibit the release of acetylcholine from neurons and the activity of monoamine oxidase.
