5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin is a porphyrin compound substituted with four 4-aminophenyl moieties. This porphyrin has been described as a useful ligand for the design of catalysts, and was used to prepare a manganese (III) complex for catalyzing oxidative decarboxylations of carboxylic acids with sodium periodate. It functions by absorbing light in the visible range and converting it into energy. This energy is then used to trigger a series of reactions in the cells or molecules that it is targeting. These reactions can include oxidation, reduction, and hydrolysis.
