4-Thiouridine is a thionucleobase used as an antisense agent. 4-Thiouridine is photoactivatable and widely used for RNA analysis. Compared to uridine, 4-Thiouridine offers an advantage of minimal structural disturbance when incorporating into an RNA chain. RNA activity has a low chance of impairment when substituting uridine for 4-Thiouridine, as they have similar base-pairing properties.
