4-Methylumbelliferyl β-D-N,N',N"-triacetylchitotrioside is a fluorogenic substrate that has been used for the detection of lysozyme, peptidoglycan, muramidase, and endochitinase activity. Cleavage of this substrate produces a fluorescent product, 4-methylumbelliferone (λex 360 nm, λem 455 nm).
