QUICK LINKS

Oxymatrine is a compound from Sophora japonica, which has many biologically functions such as the inhibition of IL-6 and IL-1beta mRNA expression. Studies indicate that Oxymatrine functions as an inhibitor of hepatitis B virus (HBV) by downregulating the gene coding for heat-stress cognate 70 (Hsc70), which is required for HBV DNA replication. In addition, Oxymatrine inhibits TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4)/NF-kappaB (nuclear factor kappa-B) and reduce apoptosis in neurons. Furthermore, Oxymatrine acts as an inhibitor of beta-catenin in MCF-7 breast cancer cells via suppressing its expression.
