4-Hydroxy Atorvastatin Disodium Salt is a metabolite of Atorvastatin and a competitively selective HMGCR (HMG-CoA reductase) inhibitor. This enzyme is involved in cholesterol synthesis. By blocking this enzyme, atorvastatin and its metabolites can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol levels.
