4-Hydroxy-17β-estradiol (4-OHE2) is a metabolite of Estradiol, a naturally occurring steroid hormone. 4-Hydroxy-17β-estradiol is a potent estrogenic compound due to its function as a ligand for the estrogen receptor (ER). It may act to stimulate the growth and proliferation of certain types of cells, such as breast cancer cells, as well as affect cell signaling pathways, gene expression, and the immune system. Additionally, it can affect the metabolism of certain hormones and modulate the activity of certain enzymes.
