4-Epianhydrochlortetracycline Hydrochloride (4-EAC HCl) is a modified Tetracycline analog. This antibiotic has a broad spectrum of activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of the bacterial cell, which prevents the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosome and thus blocks the formation of peptide bonds. This in turn results in the inhibition of protein synthesis and the death of the bacterial cell. 4-Epianhydrochlortetracycline Hydrochloride has a number of applications in bacterial research, including studies of physiology, genetics, protein synthesis, metabolism, and antibiotic resistance.
