4-DAMP, or 4-diphenylacetoxy-N-methyl-piperidine methiodide, is an antagonist at the M3 muscarinic receptor. A deuterated [3H]4-DAMP derivative was demonstrated to bind the M1 and M3 muscarinic receptors with high affinity, and the M2 receptor with low affinity. Blockade of the M2 muscarinic receptor by 4-DAMP produced a dose-dependent reduction of blood pressure in spotaneously hypertensive rats.
