QUICK LINKS
4-(Bromomethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate (BMITC) is a hetero-bifunctional linker specially for the quaternization of pyridyl-nitrogen in order to introduce an amine or thiol reactive group. It is a synthetic building block for the preparation of fluorescent labels. Furthermore, it has been used in the synthesis of peptides, peptidomimetics, and peptidomimetic-based compounds. By competitively inhibiting tyrosinase, 4-(Bromomethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate reduces the production of melanin. Studies have found antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects of 4-(Bromomethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate.
