4-Amino-5-methoxy-2-methylbenzenesulfonic Acid is an intermediate of azo dyes. It is used in the development of new materials, such as nanomaterials and polymers. In addition, it is employed in the study of biochemical and physiological processes, such as protein folding and enzyme catalysis. This compound acts as an inhibitor of certain enzymes, such as cyclooxygenase, which is involved in inflammation. 4-Amino-5-methoxy-2-methylbenzenesulfonic Acid may act to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α, as well as reactive oxygen species, which are involved in oxidative stress. It also acts as an agonist of certain receptors, such as the adenosine A2A receptor, which is involved in the regulation of sleep, learning, and memory.
