D-Mannose-6-phosphate, Disodium Salt (M6P) is a molecule bound by lectin, which functions as a targeting signal for lysosomal hydrolases. The cells with D-Mannose-6-phosphate, Disodium Salt markers are recognized by specific receptors mediating their transport to an endosomal/prelysosomal compartment where they will be degraded by lysosomes. Furthermore, D-Mannose-6-phosphate can be converted into various isomers including, the isomer D-fructose 6-phosphate enzymatically using Mannose 6-phosphate isomerase.
