4,4,4-Trifluorobutyl iodide is a fluorinated alkyl iodide with a wide range of applications in scientific research, including as a reagent in organic synthesis and as a probe for the detection of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biological molecules. It may act to inhibit the activity of enzymes, such as proteases, and to interfere with the binding of proteins to other molecules. In addition, it may act to inhibit the growth of bacteria and to interfere with the function of ion channels.
