3β,7α,25-Trihydroxycholest-5-ene (7α,25-DHCh) is a natural oxysterol derived from cholesterol. One of its key functions is activating the liver X receptor (LXR), a nuclear receptor, which in turn influences the expression of genes related to cholesterol metabolism. Additionally, 3β,7α,25-Trihydroxycholest-5-ene contributes to the regulation of inflammatory responses, cellular differentiation, and apoptosis. Through its potent activation of the 73β,7α,25-Trihydroxycholest-5-ene, it modulates genes associated with cholesterol metabolism by increasing their activity while simultaneously reducing the expression of genes involved in inflammation. Moreover, 3β,7α,25-Trihydroxycholest-5-ene exerts various biochemical and physiological effects, including the regulation of genes controlling cholesterol metabolism, such as the 3β,7α,25-Trihydroxycholest-5-ene and ABCA1, a cholesterol transporter. Furthermore, it is also implicated in the regulation of inflammatory responses and cell differentiation.
