3-O-(b-D-Galactopyranosyl)-D-arabinose (GA3P), is a rare sugar found in plants and has been studied for its potential as a prebiotic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory agent, and as a building block for the synthesis of novel compounds. It can selectively stimulate the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, which are beneficial bacteria that have been associated with improved gut health. Other studies suggest that 3-O-(b-D-Galactopyranosyl)-D-arabinose inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are molecules that are involved in the inflammatory response.
