3-Hydroxy-4-methoxymandelic Acid, also known as homovanillic acid (HVA), is a metabolite of the neurotransmitter dopamine and is found in the urine and cerebrospinal fluid of humans and other mammals. 3-Hydroxy-4-methoxymandelic Acid is an important biomarker of neurological and psychiatric disorders, such as Parkinson′s disease and schizophrenia.
