QUICK LINKS

3-Acetamidophenol is an inhibitor of the enzyme cyclooxygenase. 3-Acetamidophenol acts by binding to the active site of the enzyme, preventing the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. By inhibiting this specific step in the prostaglandin synthesis pathway, 3-Acetamidophenol effectively reduces the production of inflammatory mediators. This mechanism of action may be a useful for studying the role of COX-2 in inflammatory processes and for investigating potential interventions targeting this enzyme. Its ability to selectively inhibit COX-2 without affecting COX-1 may be a compound for investigating the specific functions of COX-2 in various experimental models.
