3,5,N,N-Tetramethylaniline is an aniline derivative, which functions as a catalyst in the formation of glycol methacrylate, an embedding medium. Studies indicate that 3,5,N,N-Tetramethylaniline can act as a quencher, rapidly binding to 1,8-Dihydroxyanthraquinone (DHAQ) (sc-223124). Anilines are aromatic amines, which are useful in a wide variety of reactions such as oxidations into azobenzenes, electrophilic substitutions, and acid base reactions. As a result of the amino group, this organic compound functions as a weak base, which can react with carboxylic acids, forming amides.
