3-(4-Methoxy-3-methyl-phenyl)-propionic acid (MMPPA) is an organic compound with a wide variety of scientific research applications. Specifically, it is employed as a reagent in organic synthesis and a substrate in enzymatic reactions. It has also been used in studies of the pharmacology and toxicology of drugs, as well as in the study of the effects of environmental contaminants on human health. In laboratory studies, 3-(4-Methoxy-3-methyl-phenyl)-propionic acid may act to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Additionally, it reduces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can cause oxidative stress. Furthermore, it reduces the production of nitric oxide (NO), which can lead to a decrease in blood pressure.
