3,3,3-Trifluoro-DL-alanine (TFA) is an amino acid widely used in scientific research applications, including biochemical, physiological, and laboratory experiments. It is able to form strong hydrogen bonds with other molecules due to its trifluoromethyl group. It is used in the synthesis of peptides, proteins, and other biological molecules. Additionally, it is employed in the study of enzyme kinetics, biochemical pathways, metabolic pathways, protein folding and structure, and protein-protein interactions. 3,3,3-Trifluoro-DL-alanine has also been found to affect the activity of ion channels in cells and neurotransmitters.
