3-[2-N-(Biotinyl)aminoethyldithio]propanoic Acid is used in the production of cleavable biotin-conjugated haptens. 3-[2-N-(Biotinyl)aminoethyldithio]propanoic Acid undergoes a thiol-ene reaction to establish a covalent linkage with proteins and other molecules. The biotin component of the compound attaches to a particular protein or molecule, while the dithiopropionic acid part forms a stable covalent bond with a cysteine residue or another thiol group. This covalent bond is stable and can be used to study protein-protein interactions.
