Bestatin hydrochloride is a reversible inhibitor of aminopeptidase enzymes, namely Aminopeptidase B, Aminopeptidase M, and leucine aminopeptidase. Inhibition of these proteins by Bestatin hydrochloride correlates to apoptosis induction in oncogenic cells. Bestatin hydrochloride is also known as N-[(2S,3R)-3-Amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyryl]-L-leucine hydrochloride, and [(2S,3R)-3-Amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoyl]-L-leucine•HCl.
