(2S)-(+)-Amino-6-iodoacetamidohexanoic acid, also known as 2-AIPA, is an irreversible inhibitor of ODC (ornithine decarboxylase) and arginase. (2S)-(+)-Amino-6-iodoacetamidohexanoic acid and (2S)-(+)-Amino-5-iodoacetamidopentanoic acid (sc-202409) are both demonstrated to produce antitumor effects in rat and mice studies, decreasing total serum proteins and increasing ALT and AST levels in these models. (2S)-(+)-Amino-6-iodoacetamidohexanoic acid is also described to have an effect on the fertility of female rats, shortening gestation time and enhancing the estradiol-induced increases in uterine weights upon concomitant administration.
