2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil • HCl is the hydrochloride salt preparation of 2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil, an inhibitor of Na+/Ca2+ exchanger protein (NCX). Blockade of NCX by 2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil was shown to inhibit the K+-induced suppression of endothelium-dependent relaxation and to suppress the correlated increase of intracellular Ca2+ concentrations. NCX blockade by 2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil also abolishes histamine-induced Ca2+ oscillations. 2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil is described to inhibit whole-cell inward currents stimulated by 8-Br-cGMP at nucleotide-gated cation channels. Caffeine-induced release of Ca2+ internal stores from olfactory receptor neurons and formation of a caffeine-induced current were blocked by 2′,4′-Dichlorobenzamil.
