2-Thienylisocyanate is a liquid, exhibiting colors from yellow to brown. It is soluble in various organic solvents, including chloroform, benzene, and dichloromethane, but insoluble in water. This compound is characterized by its sensitivity to air, light, and moisture and possesses high reactivity with nucleophiles, including alcohols, amines, and thiols. TIC acts as an inhibitor of the synthesis of amide compounds and pyrimidinetrione derivatives and has been identified to inhibit the hydroxylation of triazines by inhibiting the enzyme hydroxylase.
