2-Bromo-3-pyridyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (2-Br-3-PTS) is a versatile reagent widely used in the synthesis of a variety of organic compounds, including agrochemicals and biochemicals. For example, it is employed in the synthesis of peptides, nucleotides, polymers, surfactants, and other biologically active compounds and materials. It undergoes a variety of chemical reactions, the most common being the substitution reaction. In vitro, 2-Bromo-3-pyridyl trifluoromethanesulfonate may act to inhibit the activity of some enzymes, such as proteases and phosphatases, as well as interact with some proteins, such as DNA-binding proteins.
