2,4-Dibromoimidazole (DBI) is a heterocyclic compound with a wide range of applications in organic chemistry and biochemistry. It is employed as an intermediate for synthesizing organic compounds like imidazolium salts, imidazole derivatives, and imidazolium-based catalysts, as well as a reagent for producing heterocyclic compounds, including other nitrogen-containing compounds.
