2,2-Dimethylbutyrylchloride is a synthetic derivative of spirodiclofen. Operating as a chloride ionophore, it effectively inhibits cholesterol synthesis by targeting the enzyme 3-mercaptopropionase. It has shown to be a potent CB2 receptor agonist in vitro. It can also be used as an effective acid catalyst for various organic reactions.
