2-(1,1-Dimethylpropyl)-6-(diphenylphosphino)pyridine (2-DDPP) is a type of organophosphine ligand useful for a variety of scientific applications, such as in the synthesis of various compounds, including catalysts and polymers. It acts as catalyst for anti-Markovnikov hydration and regioselective synthesis of oligo-1,4-diols. It is also useful for hydrogenation and hydroformylation reactions. In addition, 2-(1,1-Dimethylpropyl)-6-(diphenylphosphino)pyridine has been found to increase the activity of the cytochrome P450 enzyme, which is involved in metabolism. In plants, it can increase the activity of several enzymes, including peroxidases, proteases, and polyphenoloxidases. Furthermore, it enhances the resistance of plants to pathogenic fungi and bacteria.
