QUICK LINKS

15-Keto-prostaglandin E2 is biosynthesized via 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase, and has been shown to be 1.3 times more potent than Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2; sc-201225) in relaxing guinea pig trachea. This metabolite of PGE2 did not show any significant activity in other systems used to gauge PGE2 activity; however, it is difficult to distinguish in vivo the proportions of PGE2 and its metabolites that are performing biological function throughout the organism - these metabolites might play important roles in some biochemical pathways, and are therefore of interest to researchers.
