1400 W is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of inducible NOS2 (iNOS). Studies show that in the presence of 1400 W there is reduced tumor growth in EMT6 murine mammary adenocarcinoma. 1400W is a weak inhibitor of NOS3 (eNOS) and NOS1 (nNOS). It has been observed that 1400 W suppressed the ulcerogenic response and reduced oxidative pentose phosphate cycle (OPPC) in RAW 264.7 cells. In both in vivo (within living organisms) and in vitro (lab-based) studies, 1400W- is employed to shed light on its mechanism of action, biological activity, and biochemical and physiological effects. As an agonist of the μ-opioid receptor, which is a G-protein coupled receptor activated by endogenous opioid peptides, like endorphins and enkephalins, 1400W binds to this receptor and triggers a signaling cascade, leading to the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. These interactions contribute to the analgesic, sedative, anxiolytic, and antinociceptive effects exhibited by 1400W.
