QUICK LINKS

11-Heneicosanone is an aliphatic hydrocarbon found in some vegetable oils, such as sunflower oil, and in the waxes of some fruits and vegetables, such as apples and cucumbers. It is studied for its potential applications in perfume production, as a food flavor enhancer, an antioxidant in cosmetics, an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent, and antifungal and anti-cancer applications. Additionally, 11-Heneicosanone is investigated for its potential to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. It may also have protective effects on the heart and liver, and may help to reduce the risk of certain cancers. 11-Heneicosanone can be oxidized to form 11-Heneicosenoic acid, which is a precursor to a number of other compounds. These compounds include eicosanoids, bile acids, and prostaglandins.
