10,11-Dihydro-10-hydroxycarbazepine-D4 (Major) is a deuterated metabolite of Oxcarbazepine, which is only available as a mixture of deuterated material:d-1: 1%d-2: 9%d-3: 35%d-4: 55%. 10,11-Dihydro-10-hydroxycarbazepine-D4 (Major) exerts its effects by suppressing the function of carbazepine-11-hydroxylase, an enzyme for the metabolism of carbazepine. This inhibition enhances the absorption and distribution of carbazepine within the body. Furthermore, 10,11-Dihydro-10-hydroxycarbazepine-D4 (Major) has shown to act as an agonist at the GABA-A receptor.
