1-O-Hexyl-2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone (1-HHTQ) is a novel phenolic antioxidant that shows strong antimutagenic activity against eight carcinogenic heterocyclic amines (HCA) produced during cooking processes. The antimutagenic activity inhibits metabolic activation of HCA. 1-O-Hexyl-2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone is known to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties by scavenging free radicals, inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. Furthermore, it has been studied as a potential neuroprotective agent in cell culture models of neurodegenerative diseases.
