QUICK LINKS

1-Methylthymine is a model of thymidine, which is found naturally in DNA. The compound is found on DNA as a result of the affinity of the methyl group located on the N1 atom towards the deoxyribose moiety. Studies indicate that 1-Methylthymine is useful as a protective group in plantination reactions of trans-Pt(NH3)2(1-MeT)Cl with DNA olionucleotides. In addition, 1-Methylthymine is essential in detecting hydrogen bonded complexes and metal complexes.
