1-Cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde (1-CHCA) belongs to the group of aromatic aldehydes and is an important intermediate in organic synthesis. It is used in the synthesis of various polymers, such as polyurethanes and polycarbonates, and in the production of dyes and pigments. 1-Cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde operates through the oxidizing abilities of chromium(VI) oxide and nitric acid. When cyclohexene is exposed to chromium(VI) oxide, it gets oxidized to 1-Cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde, and similarly, nitric acid oxidizes cyclohexanol to the same compound.
