1-(3′,4′-Dimethoxyphenyl)-1-propanol, a phenolic alcohol, is used in numerous scientific and industrial applications. This compound exists as a colorless, volatile liquid possessing a pleasant herbal scent. It is soluble in both water and alcohol. It is used in fragrances and flavorings and used as a solvent for reactions. Found in the bark of Pinus pinaster and the rhizome of Piper auritum. Studies show that this compound has an antiinflammatory effect by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
