QUICK LINKS

1,2-O-Dioctadecyl-sn-glycerol (DOG) is a glycerol derivative that mimics the structure of natural phospholipids and has been used as a research tool in various fields of study. It may act to interact with lipid membranes and alter their properties. It can induce membrane fusion and activate protein kinase C. 1,2-O-Dioctadecyl-sn-glycerol can also induce the release of calcium from intracellular stores, induce apoptosis, and inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro. Additionally, it has been used as a substrate for phospholipase C.
