1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-4-methylpiperazine is used a viscosity control agent and serves as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals. The synthesis of 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-4-methylpiperazine can be achieved through the interaction of ethylene oxide with amines, or by quaternization of diethanolamine with chloroethane.
