Zoledronic Acid, Disodium Salt, Tetrahydrate is a biphosphonate bone resorption inhibitor. It is also an inhibitor of ASM and FDPS and an activator of PKC. Furthermore, it acts as a chelating agent by forming complexes with metal ions. This compound has been used as a ligand for protein purification and as a stabilizing agent for enzymes. It has also been used as a model compound for studying the properties of phosphonates.
