SEE ALSO...

SMG1 Antibody (6-RE13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects SMG1 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SMG1, also known as ATX or LIP, is a crucial serine/threonine protein kinase composed of 3,657 amino acids, which is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. SMG1 features a unique structural composition that includes one FAT domain, one FATC domain, one HEAT repeat, and one phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) domain, all of which contribute to functional versatility. These domains facilitate SMG1′s role in mRNA surveillance and cellular response to genotoxic stress, processes that are vital for maintaining cellular integrity and function. SMG1 utilizes manganese as a cofactor to catalyze the phosphorylation of target proteins, thereby regulating essential cellular functions such as cell division and apoptosis. Multiple isoforms of SMG1, resulting from alternative splicing, underscore the complexity of regulatory mechanisms and potential interactions within various signaling pathways.

Can sc-135563: SMG1 (6-RE13) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-135563: SMG1 (6-RE13) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
