SECp43 Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SECp43 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SECp43, also known as tRNA (Sec) selenocysteine 1-associated protein 1 or TRNAU1AP, is a 287 amino acid member of the RRM TRSPAP protein family, primarily localized in the nucleus but also found in the cytoplasm. SECp43 plays a crucial role in the early stages of selenocysteine biosynthesis and tRNA charging, as well as in the cotranslational incorporation of selenocysteine into selenoproteins, which are essential for various biological processes, including antioxidant defense and redox regulation. The presence of two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains within SECp43, characterized by conserved hydrophobic and octapeptide motifs, underscores its importance in RNA binding and processing. SECp43 is potentially involved in the tRNA methylation and interacts with several key proteins, including mRNP, SELB, and SBP-2, which are vital for the proper functioning of the cellular machinery that synthesizes selenoproteins. Two isoforms of SECp43 arise from alternative splicing events, adding another layer of complexity to its functional repertoire.
