Ghrelin (human) is an endogenous agonist peptide for the GHS-R and is mainly produced in the stomach. The GHS-R (growth hormone secretagogue receptor) potently stimulates growth hormone release from the pituitary gland in vivo and in vitro. In addition to regluating feeding, growth, and energy production, ghrelin (human) also shows regulatory effects on the cardiovascular and immune system. Ghrelin (human) is an activator of GHS-R1a.
