G9a Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects G9a protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-G9a antibody (C-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. G9a protein, also known as EHMT2, plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression through its function as a histone methyltransferase, specifically targeting histone H3 lysine 9 for methylation. This post-translational modification is vital for the repression of developmental genes and is essential for early embryogenesis, highlighting G9a′s importance in cellular differentiation and development. G9a′s ability to add methyl groups to lysine residues not only influences transcriptional regulation but also contributes to the organization of chromatin structure, thereby impacting overall genomic stability. Human G9a gene is located on chromosome 6p21.3, and expression is tightly regulated, reflecting significance in various biological processes. With high activity compared to other methyltransferases, G9a is a key player in the epigenetic landscape, making G9a (C-9) monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for researchers studying gene regulation and chromatin dynamics.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with G9a (C-9): sc-515726?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety

Rated 1 out of 5 by from G9a Ab for Western blotingRequested a sample of this Ab to test before purchasing for Western blotting. Unfortunately it did not work on colorectal cancer cell lines (untreated or drug treated) as I was hoping for. Antibody concentrations tested, 1:500 and 1:250 in 5% BSA/TBST. Tested with 20 ug and 30 ug of protein lysates.
